deep sea fishing, surf angling from the beach, river fishing,
and scuba diving.
Beach trails by foot or horse back, bird spotting
with guide.
Tennis, squash, lawn bowls, mountain biking, forest
hikes.
Game viewing within in easy reach in malaria free
areas amongst which are the renowned Addo Elephant Park and the
exclusive Shamwari Game Reserve.
There are 2 established 18 hole golf courses. Royal
Port Alfred is one of 4 “Royals” and one of the few
“links” courses in South Africa. Fish River Sun, 30
kilometres from the town, is a Gary Player designed course.
Port Alfred is home to the 43 Air School, the most
recognized air school in Africa where one can study to become
a fully qualified pilot or simply do the very basic flying training.
The airfield can also be used as a small aircraft landing field.
